NOTE
This picture's unusual subject attracted my attention - Not the usual Munnings' horses in a rural setting, instead the animals are in much more sombre surroundings. I particularly like the depiction of the war-torn landscape, and the peacefullness of soldiers watering their horses in a hostile environment. There are no weapons on view and Munnings has used drab colours to depict the gloomy surroundings, the exception being the grey horse which provides contrast and a focal point. I think Munnings has captured the moment in time perfectly. I consider this a great picture that provokes though and provides historical interest.
